How PnL works

Where your PnL numbers come from, how far back our trade history goes, and the backfill plan.

Your PnL is only as good as the trade history behind it. Here's exactly how much history we have.

AMMs launched on the XRP Ledger on Mar 22, 2024. Sent began indexing trades on Nov 24, 2025. Trades between those dates are not yet indexed.

Where your numbers come from#

Average cost, realized PnL and unrealized PnL are all calculated from the swaps we've indexed for your wallet. We see every AMM and DEX trade from Nov 24, 2025 onward. Anything you did before that is in the striped red part of the bar, and we haven't read it yet.

  • First bought after Nov 24, 2025? Your PnL is complete. Every buy and sell is accounted for.
  • Held a token from before then? We can see your balance, but not what you paid for the part you bought earlier. Cost basis starts from the trades we've seen, so PnL on those positions is partial.
  • Balances are always right. They come straight from the ledger, not from our index. Only the "what did I pay" side is affected.

Why not index further back?#

Great question. Here's the honest answer, slightly sarcastic:

  • The XRPL doesn't come with a "give me every AMM swap ever" button. Going back to launch means replaying millions of ledgers one at a time and picking apart every transaction's metadata to work out who swapped what. It's about as fun as it sounds.
  • Full-history servers are not a public utility. Nodes that keep every ledger since genesis are expensive to run, and the public ones are (reasonably) not keen on one app pulling 20 months of history from them.
  • We picked shipping over archaeology. Every hour spent digging through 2024 was an hour not spent on the trading features you actually use. Live indexing came first because live data is what you trade on.
  • The ledger isn't going anywhere. That's the nice thing about a blockchain. Your 2024 trades are exactly where you left them, waiting for us.
tl;dr

It's not that we forgot about 2024 and most of 2025. We just decided not to make you wait on them.

The plan: backfill to day one#

We plan to backfill all the way to the AMM launch on Mar 22, 2024, closing the red gap so the whole bar goes green.

  • Backfilled trades go into the same index, so your PnL updates by itself. No re-import, no buttons.
  • Positions held from before Nov 24, 2025 will get their true cost basis once their trades are in.
  • Until then, read PnL on older positions as "since we started watching", not "since you bought".
